I no longer have a numeric key pad, but that worked last time I used one. Did you use the codes as defined in Help?

I did find  http://www.autohotkey.com/ worked for another program, so you could investigate that and see if it works with DSPCB, but from memory it took a while to understand and get it functioning.

I'm sure other will have some suggestions, but I nolonger use the Omega sign so haven't looked for new solutions.

The Omega symbol is available, but only with the system stroke font.

It is character codes 0134 (upper case)  and 0135 (lower case) in that font.

In most windows fonts, those character codes are the single and double dagger characters. ( and )

Since the Properties - Text box in DS PCB is displayed using regular Windows fonts, the Omega symbols show up as the daggers when entering them. But they will be displayed as Omega win the PCB editor layout, as long as the font for the text is set to System Stroke Font.

You can enter them using the Alt+numeric keypad method, or by copying and pasting from the Windows Character Map utility. In the character map utility, you need to select the dagger or double dagger symbol though, not the Windows omega symbols.

If you look in the DS PCB help under the index topic Character Set, you will find the follow table that shows what characters are available in the system font:

    Hi Brad,

    Very helpful, thank you.

My research suggested that the System Stroke font was probably the one to use but I didn't go quite far enough with it, mainly because I didn't like the appearance of the font and the character spacing doesn't suit my application.

I am using the pcb as the Escutcheon Plate in my project, see example here - https://www.eevblog.com/projects/ucurrent/

Are there other recommended fonts that suit the silkscreen process that would be appropriate for this application, albeit without the Omega symbol?

Fortunately, you aren't restricted to a single font per board in DS PCB - just one font per text label or string.

While DS PCB only gives you access to characters with 8-bit codes (0-255, vs the full Unicode range), there are some Windows fonts that, like the System Stroke Font, have special characters and graphics mapped into this 8-bit range.
Three fonts in this category include Symbol, Wingdings, and Webdings.

The Symbol font includes the upper and lower case omega characters. You type a W to get Ω, or w to get ω.
The font also includes other Greek characters and math symbols.

Wingdings includes multiple arrow and clock symbols, symbols representing peripherals like keyboard, mouse, computer/screen, floppy disk, circles, squares, stars, encircled digits, and check marks.

    Webdings includes various user-interface elements.
Here are some symbols in the Webdings are that are potentially useful for front or rear panels:

And the corresponding characters to select them in the DS PCB dialog:

    0123456789:;<=>
    LNOWX@`nrsq¨’²±¼½
    xy~áæªiêëÎÏÐѳµ

Two cautions about using multiple text labels with different fonts. Rendering of text position on-screen is somewhat inconsistent. If you place one text label a little to the right of the end of another, and zoom in and out, the spacing between the two changes non-linearly with respect to the zoom. Always check the gerber output files in a viewer if you want to verify the actual spacing and see precisely how it will look.

Also, there are other symbol-category fonts with graphic characters handy for front panels. You can use them with DS PCB as well. But if you are working with a board house that accepts board designs directly in the DS PCB file format (.PCB files), you will need to make sure they have any fonts (symbol or regular) you use that aren't included standard with Microsoft Windows. Sending gerber files instead gets around this problem, because DS PCB converts the characters to filled areas in the gerber files.
