    Hi Peter,

To answer your second question first, yes, DS PCB Pro will be available in the US very soon, if it isn't already. (I notice it now shows me US pricing for DS PCB PRO. I have been busy and haven't had a chance to theck out

Some of the new or improved features included in DS PCB Pro but not in DS PCB:

    • Blind & buried vias.
    • Extensive copper pour rules.
    • Hierarchical blocks.
    • Net class level spacing rules & manufacturing checks.
    • An upgraded auto-router to optimise the board layout efficiency.
    • Panelizing (combining multiple designs or copies onto one board for production).

More of the differences are summarized here:

Here is a comparison of some of the user interface differences which reflect the different features:

    Thank you Dave.

I will have to give the pro version a tryout.  Very exciting!

Thank you Brad for the links and information.

This looks very exciting to see these additional changes in DS PCB and at a reasonable price.

I will have to give the pro version a try.

    Thank you.

The price of Pro is a little steep for me, so I think we will stay with the free version. The new looks great and a great improvement over the functions of the free version. I just wish it did not cost so much

    Hi Richard

I'm interested to know, for the new functionality, what price do you think you would be willing to pay if the current pricing  "is a little steep"?

    Thanks
    Dave

I bet the Pro version is worth the cost. We are a very small company (<6 workers) an do very simple projects. The most complex design to date was an 8 layer PCB.

So the question becomes do we need these advanced functions.

I will download the trial version and give it wirld.

    Hi,

You mention that there is an upgrade to the auto router in the Pro version, can you elaborate on what extra features it has.

Push & Shove would be great !

    Thanks

Is there likely to be more implementation of user feature requests in Pro? There are lots I'd love to see that would make it worth upgrading, as it stands there isn't a lot that would make it worth it for me.

    The main ones are:

Library manager with library and component sharing, plus better library editing facilities.

Ability to insert tracks with rounded / 45 degree curved corners.

Better logic in moving tracks when moving / rotating components. At the moment you might as well delete and start again...

I do worry about the inability to open Pro files in the free version. I'd like to be able to export files for others to open and edit in a collaboration without them all having to pay to upgrade as well.

One question, is the panelisation only for the same design, or can you import multiple designs and create a panel? And how does it handle things like duplicated component names and nets?
