I think you can try to send corrupted file to DSPCB support, in the past they've offer help for someone with similar problem. But if that automatic backup is your only copy, then it's not secure anyway. What would you do if you disk fail?

I backup my data to cloud or external HDD, but only several times a week. If DesignSpark PCB corrupts my data during my workday then I lose all changes I made this day.

Dou you backup your design manually several times a day when you work with DesignSpark PCB?

Not several times but one time a day. I thought you don't do any backup, surprisingly there are many people who don't do it risking weeks/months of work.

Anyway DSPCB shouldn't crash that often, it happens to me but I'd say it's rare. Again, DSPCB support was interested in the log files in the past so they can identify what is causing this.

@Martin, sorry to hear of your corrupted design files and your crash experiences. The only unresolved crash issue we currently reported is the subsequent use of the manufacturing outputs which is under investigation (note we have a replacement DLL with additional error trapping if anyone wishes to test this - contact Zendesk).

Regarding the corruption of the backup files as well, I can only presume that the design became corrupted, produced the backup with the corruption and subsequently crashed. But whatever the cause if you send your design files (all from the project folder) the developers will attempt to recover them.

Can you also send a separate Zendesk support ticket for the crash issue as this may be a longer investigation.

Hi Martin,my own method of backup is to copy the complete design folder to a new folder named project_Vn.n this provides me with both a backup and a route back to a particular version for development down an alternative path.  My backup tool then protects every version.

The project copy does not have to be at a particular stage, it can even be tagged with a date, it just extra security.
