Patch difficulties
I'm following the instructions under the title Patch available: DesignSpark Mechanical v2 not opening (October 2020)
After step 2. Enter Regedit .... I only see "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE without the following \SOFTWARE\]Microsoft.NETFramework\v4.0.30319 in the left panel.
My download file now shows a half dozen 986 KB DSM_v5_build73232 files and four DSM_v2_patch_Oct_2020 files from my so far unsuccessf;ul efforts. This is a 64 bit Windows 10 machine on which I've been designing with DesignSpark for a long time, a couple years perhaps, maybe longer.
Ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Hi David,
If I understand correctly, you had run the DSM_v2_patch_Oct_2020.BAT file (patch) from but it gave an error message?
So you tried the step-by-step process at https://designspark.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005180754-Patch-available-DesignSpark-Mechanical-v2-not-opening-October-2020- and are stuck at #2?
Can you not expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE directory like:
it should certainly have the \SOFTWARE\Microsoft.NETFramework\v4.0.30319 key as DSM v2 would not work without it.
DSM_v5_build73232 refers to the installer of DesignSpark Mechanical v5.0. It is not affected by the recent connection issue as it impacted only DSM v2 users.
If you're comfortable with it and we also recommend this, please uninstall DSM v2 from your PC and then update to v5.0 following detailed steps here: https://designspark.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360010645273
