I tried to create a spiral with a particular start and end position using the Equation tool and got a 'thick' straight line as seen here:
But if I plot the same function in another environment I get my spiral:
1)Why can I use the built in constant pi in the X,Y & Z edit fields (and just about every other edit field in DSM), but not in the Start or End fields?
2)Indeed, why can I do no math in the start/end fields at all? "2*pi" is a lot clearer as to the meaning than 6.18.
3) Why aren't [x],[y] & [z] available as variables in the edit fields of each other? Ie. To create a helix(3D) line, you need to define z in terms of the current value of x & y.
It is possible to create 3D lines by embedding (and thus recalculating the values of) the entire x and y formulas into the z field, but it would be so much easier and efficient to be able to refer to them as [x],[y],[z]
