"Fixing" trace question
Hello Gents,
I've looked at the help file and haven't found an answer to my question, so I'm asking here.
I have a good board that I am modifying and have removed some things and added others. There are traces that I don't want changed/moved. They are fixed. After I finish placing the new parts, I want to run the auto router function. I'm guessing that the fixed traces will stay put while the new traces will auto route.
Am I right? I would think so but I'd rather ask before I goof something up, even though I'll make a back up copy.
Thank You!
Tom

I rarely use the autorouter, but think you are correct.
It would be easy to check, make a design copy as you suggest and then you always have a copy to return to. Also if things go wrong use 'undo' to get back to the previous state. You get a warning if things cannot be undone.

I did a test and "fixing" traces do not save them from being re-routed. The only way to keep what is in place, (and use the auto router), is to highlight the traces you want to auto route and pick them in the auto route selection menu under "selected nets".
Oh well.
Thanks for your answer. Cheers!
Tom
