The 'unknown error' may indicate either:
1. A Windows 10 device encryption problem, or
2. A permissions issue with adding your DesignSpark Electrical (DSE) activation token to the local computer registry.
Troubleshooting:
a) If you have local administrator rights, please open DSE using it. Otherwise, move to the next suggestion.
b) Windows 10 Device Encryption:
Try turning off the Windows 10 Device Encryption and opening DSE again. How-to guide: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/145803-how-turn-off-device-encryption-windows-10-a.html
c) Permissions issue fix:
To fix this, we'll need to do a little registry editing. Seek an IT administrator's help if you are unsure or require authorisation to do it.
Also, make sure DSE is closed before starting these steps:
1. Press , type regedit and press
.
2. Enter your Windows admin credentials, if prompted.
3. From the registry editor's address bar, copy-paste and enter this location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{fce019f4-1553-42a7-994e-688e1856c122}
Note: In case the above location does not exist, download and run this file. You can click 'run' in case a security warning pops up.
If the registry editor is still open from the last step, click on View -> Refresh (F5 on keyboard) and copy-paste the location again: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{fce019f4-1553-42a7-994e-688e1856c122}
4. Now that the registry key {fce019f4-1553-42a7-994e-688e1856c122} is available, right-click on it and open the permissions menu.
Select 'all application packages' and tick 'Allow' under 'Full Control' of permissions. Then, click Apply.
Scroll down in the same list and select 'Users (YourPCName\Users)' and tick 'Allow' under 'Full Control' of permissions again. Then, click Apply and OK to exit.
5. Close the registry editor and open DesignSpark Electrical.
d) If all else fails, create a new DesignSpark account through the software. Open the DesignSpark Electrical program with administrator rights and use the 'Register' option to create a new DesignSpark account. Use a different email id from the one used for your existing DesignSpark account.

Hi, I have the same problem. Did you solve it?
Has anyone solved this problem yet? I'm having the same problem. Have I lost all my drawings?
