Grid is a visual help for inserting symbols, but symbols don’t need to be inserted in the grid points. Snap spacing is the cursor movement range.
Normally symbols with multiple circuits have a space of 5 between connection points:
So, a snap spacing of 5 has to be used in order to match connection points and wires easily. You can also use a snap spacing of 2.5 or 1 if you need more precision.
But if you use a snap spacing of 3, you will be in trouble when connecting multiple circuits symbols.
In the following case I have inserted a symbols using a snap spacing of 3:
To access the ‘Drawing parameters’ dialogue you can do right click on the bottom right bar:
To move the previous symbol to a snap spacing of 5 I have to do the following.
-Set snap spacing to 5, untick ‘Snap On’, untick ‘Ortho On’ tick ‘Activate object snap-on’ and tick ‘Endpoint’:
-Do right click over the symbol and select the ‘Move’ option:
-Left click on the insertion point:
-Tick ‘Snap On’, now you can move it to a snap spacing of 5.
