Over the last 10 years, we’ve seen new 32-bit hardware discontinued and end of mainstream development/support for legacy operating systems (OS) such as Windows XP and Windows 7. As technology has moved to the faster 64-bit computing architecture, new software features take advantage of the increased performance on an OS platform that delivers the latest security updates.
With reducing legacy OS support and potential security vulnerabilities, we advice customers to not use DesignSpark Mechanical (DSM) 32-bit v1.x or v2.x and upgrade for free to the latest 64-bit version: https://www.rs-online.com/designspark/mechanical-download-and-installation
Existing users of 32-bit DSM versions will be supported for a short period, but with Microsoft closing extended support of legacy platforms, we strongly recommend upgrading your OS and DSM software to the latest 64-bit version as soon as possible.
DSM v2 add-on users will still have access to their paid features with all new versions of DSM.
You can find the new DSM features and get help with upgrading in this DesignSpark support area.
