10:30 BST (June 1, 2018): A fix has been applied to the 'internal server error' message and other issues related to this incident have also been addressed.
Our apologies for the inconvenience to users over the past 24-36 hours. We are constantly working to improve user experience in all DesignSpark services.
16:30 BST: For those users getting an 'Internal Server Error' message,
please login to your DesignSpark web account (https://www.rs-online.com/designspark/login) and head into the 'Account details' area through the DS profile icon on the top right corner.
Add some text or choose from drop-down bar (authentic info would be appreciated) in the mandatory fields like Job role (marked with an * asterisk) which may be blank.
Click SAVE and then try logging into the DS Mechanical software again.
If you have only seen a 'maximum activations reached' message, try logging in now as it should be fixed.
13:00 BST: Existing users of DesignSpark Mechanical (DSM) who have previously activated the software should now be able to open and use the software.
Additional fixes are being applied so that new users (ones logging into DSM for the 1st time) are able to activate. Please bear with us for a few more hours.
Also, if you have recently updated Windows 10 to the latest build (April 2018 - 1803) please add RSRegistration.exe and SpaceClaim.exe (these are located in your DSM install directory in Program Files or Program Files - x86) to exclusions in your Windows Firewall.
The latest major Windows update has caused a flurry of issues with other software as well.
09:30 BST: After back end system upgrades to the DesignSpark Mechanical software on the evening of May 30, issues were identified with the activation endpoints which validate new and existing user licences for the free version of DSM.
The issues is currently being addressed by System Engineers at the developer's side.
A fix is expected to be in place this evening. Our apologies for the inconvenience to users.
