How do I create a drawing template with editable note boxes?

Title blocks with variable text need to be defined using Note Callouts in the format file.

The callout will reference an existing or user created document property (such as Description, Part Number, Revision, etc).

In DSM, these can be found or defined from the Properties menu on the left side of the screen.  To create a custom property the user just needs to right click and select Add Document Property.

When creating the note, click the button in the popup toolbar with the 3 X's and choose the specific parameter to display.

The field can be left empty in the document properties, and will automatically populate once a value is added in the model.
