DesignSpark PCB has a great feature to improve your project documentation allowing you to add datasheets, images and design notes. These will be available for use while working on your design and provide a record of the data and information when the project is finished.
In DesignSpark PCB with your project open select Project -> Add Files to Project...
Files not associated with DesignSpark PCB file types will be added to the "Other Files" category.
Select the required file to add.
By default DesignSpark PCB files are preselected in the file type box (identified by green box), set this to "All Files (*.*). Select the source folder containing the documents and then click the required file to add and then "Open" to add it to the project.
You are now presented with option to make a copy of the file into the project folder which keeps all the documents contained in one folder for easy sharing and reference.
Alternatively if you keep a documentation repository a link to that file can be created. This saves disk space, but the document will not be available to others if you share your project folder.
Click "Yes" to add a copy of the document (or 'No' to add a link to the current document location) and the document is added to the project and listed in the "Other Files" section.
Any file type can be added such as Word, Excel, PDF, PNG etc., and when the file is double clicked the associated Windows application will open the selected file.
The file is now present within the project folder.
You can also right click on any of the file entries to access a small context menu with some options for managing the files in the project.
