Using the BoM function for procurement
One of the automated reports which DesignSpark Electrical generates is a Bill of Materials, listing all parts defined in a project.
Click Reports icon under Project menu and export Bill of material list in the report manager.
This BoM can then be used to procure parts in a number of different ways. The list can be exported as an Excel (xls) file (or as text or xml) and printed or emailed as part of a conventional procurement process. This process can be very time consuming however, and add delays to the workflow before being able to move onto the next project.
As an additional option, it is possible to directly get a quotation from local RS website. You can find the Ask for a quote button under Process menu.
Then, select the locations you want to include in the report, in order to ask for a quote of BoM.
It will link from the design interface in DesignSpark Electrical directly to the local RS website, where the BoM list will be displayed, with price and availability, giving the option of an expedited purchase solution, allowing you to move onto the next project more quickly.
