DSL files provide an alternate source of components and can be added to the DesignSpark PCB Libraries from within the Library Manager. This feature is particularly useful for Windows XP users as it provides a route to using the complete PCB Parts Library without the requirement to use Library Loader.
The three steps required are
1. Extract the schematic symbol.
2 Extract the PCB footprint symbol.
3. Extract the component (this uses the above symbols).
Adding the DSL component:
Launch the Library Manager.
Select the "Schematic Symbol" tab, select your destination "Library" and click "Add File".
In the "Open" dialog window, navigate to the folder containing the DSL file, select it and click "Open".
(If asked by a pop up window, select the default technology file).
The symbol is now saved in the library and will appear in the list. Select it, ensure "Preview" is checked and it will appear in the preview pane.
Repeat these simple steps for the "PCB Symbol".
And the "Component".
The DSL component is now in the library ready to use from "Add Component" in your design.
XP users can use this option to gain access to the complete PCB Parts Library using the Electronic Component Search Engine. Simply search and download the required component as a Zip file. Extract the DSL file from the DesignSpark folder and follow the above steps.
